July spotlight: Powering the Next Generation of African Change-Makers through 21st Century Education.

With Africa's youth population expanding rapidly, equipping the next generation with critical thinking, digital literacy and entrepreneurial capabilities has become an urgent priority. Thought leaders like Yasmine Sherif of ‘Education Cannot Wait’ have issued impassioned calls to invest in 21st century education and skills training for Africa's young people as employed by the African Union. The African Union, within the past six months has extended its support and mandate to educational institutions, initiatives and Not For Profit organizations. This mandate may facilitate collaborative and networking opportunities for Tanga Foundation with other similar organizations, regional or continental initiatives. Furthermore, it could potentially open up new avenues for the Foundation to expand its programs, strengthen its financial and operational sustainability. Lastly, a voice in influencing educational policies,discussions and advocacy. This article serves as a highlight of the key developments in the not for profit sector throughout the month.
Grassroots Leaders Drive Youth-Led Change
Aisha Abdullah Adammu of Aisha Cares and Child Rights Foundation, a grassroot leader hosted another edition of her university tour at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria. This was a youth led change programme on the 26th of July 2024.

Aisha Adammu emphasized her belief that investing in education not only empowers individuals but also fosters a bright and more prosperous future for all. Aisha Cares facilitated an interactive session and empowering conversations on decision making, change making through education.
The spotlight comprises 15 change makers receiving scholarships, academic and accommodation support. Tanga Foundation commends this initiative and celebrates all grassroots leaders across the African continents who are powering for change via education.
Funding for Grassroots Impact
Several major philanthropic efforts have emerged to catalyze youth-led change at the community level. The Mastercard Foundation's $1.5 billion commitment to skilling Africa's youth is a prime example, with a focus on partnering with local not for profit organizations.
