It was early morning in Zimbabwe when our team gathered - The mission for the day was clear: deliver love, dignity, and nourishment to the children of Glory to Glory Orphanage. But this wouldn’t be a simple drop-off — it would be a day of impact, a moment that stitched together community, compassion, and commitment.
The Morning: Shopping with Purpose
Our first stop was the local supermarket, where volunteers from the Tanga Foundation met with big hearts and longer grocery lists. Trolleys were loaded with care: bags of rice, cooking oil, vegetables, cereal, snacks, hygiene products - everything needed to feed and sustain the children for an entire month. Each item wasn’t just food - it was security, health, and a message: “You are not forgotten.”
Midday: Empowering Local Hands, Honouring Local Business
As we prepared for the visit, we made a deliberate choice to support local entrepreneurs in the process.
We commissioned a local baker to prepare cakes and treats for the children, ensuring the joy of the day was sweetened by someone from the very community we were serving.
We partnered with local barbers, who volunteered their time to offer free haircuts to every child at the orphanage — helping them feel confident, fresh, and seen.
This wasn’t just charity. It was collaboration. Empowering local hands to be part of the mission meant the impact extended beyond the orphanage gates — right into the heart of the local economy.

Afternoon: Arrival at Glory to Glory
As we drove through the gates of Glory to Glory Orphanage, we were met with open arms, beaming smiles, and the curious eyes of children excited to meet new faces. The groceries were unloaded, but the real gift was still to come - time, attention, and togetherness.
We played. We danced and passed footballs. The air was filled with laughter, the kind that stays with you. Their energy was infectious - a reminder that joy thrives even in places where resources are scarce.
When the cakes arrived, the excitement was uncontrollable. Kids gathered around, singing and clapping, delighted at the surprise.
Moments That Mattered
Girls received sanitary products and hygiene packs, ensuring they could go about their lives with confidence and dignity.
Boys and girls alike sat in barber chairs with giggles and wide eyes, emerging with smiles after their fresh cuts.
Volunteers sat with children, listening to their dreams of becoming teachers, doctors, pilots, and dancers. Dreams so vivid, so real - all they need is nurturing.
A Salute to the True Heroes
We cannot speak about this day without acknowledging the incredible team at Glory to Glory Orphanage. The caregivers, administrators, and support staff who pour into these children daily are heroes. Their patience, strength, and love are the foundation upon which these children build their lives, to them, we say: Thank you.

Why We Do It
At the Tanga Foundation, our mission is guided by 3 core pillars — and food donation is one of them. We believe that no child should ever go to bed hungry. Proper nutrition is the foundation of dignity, learning, health, and hope. It’s hard to dream on an empty stomach - but with full plates come fuller lives and brighter futures.
This visit to Glory to Glory wasn’t just about giving food — it was about restoring the foundation every child deserves. We know that when a child is nourished, they are better able to focus, grow, and thrive.
A Call to Serve: Get Involved
To the local organisations, small businesses, and individuals reading this - we invite you to be part of something bigger. Whether you can sponsor a meal, offer your skills, donate resources, or simply give your time - your contribution matters. The ripple effect of your kindness could change the trajectory of a child’s life. We believe in the power of community-led impact. Let’s work together - barber to baker, donor to dreamer - to uplift those who need it most. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers and suppliers who made the day so special. To Mrs. Matizha, our lead volunteer and the talented baker behind that unforgettable cake, your dedication, warmth, and generosity were at the heart of the event. To Ruvarshe Nyatanga, thank you for your time, support, and kind spirit - your presence truly made a difference.
